ASUS 's ZenFone series comprises devices in low-end, high-end, and mid-range configurations. The ZenFone Max, series's largest smartphone (in terms of screen size) has bigger-than-average batteries, and the newest model isn't any different. At the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show this week, ASUS announced the ZenFone Max Plus (M1), an enhanced version of this year's ZenFone Max.
The regular ZenFone Max came with a 5.5-inch display, and the Plus variant bumps it up to 5.7 inches and opts for a 18:9 aspect ratio. Unfortunately, those upgrades comes at the cost of battery capacity: The ZenFone Max Plus has a 4,130mAh battery compared to the regular ZenFone Max's 5,000mAh. Still, Asus claims the Max can run 26 days straight in standby mode.
In the camera department, the ZenFone Max Plus has a 16MP front camera with a f/2.0 aperture and dual rear cameras, both of which are 16MP. The rear camera has a 120-degree wide-view lens, an improvement over the ZenFone Max's single 13MP sensor.
Notably, the ZenFone Max Plus is the first phone to ship with ASUS's Face Unlock technology, which the company claims is secure enough to replace a password.
ASUS says that the ZenFone Max Plus will launch February 2017 at a price point of $230, with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. It'll come in two color options at launch in North America, Azure Silver and Deepsea Black, and a Sunlight Gold model will come to select markets later this year.
