How Much Do You Think the New Pixel and Pixel XL are Worth?

With the Pixel and Pixel XL launch done and dusted, the biggest complaint so far with the devices is not that they are not solid flagships — but they are priced beyond what one traditionally expected for the combination of hardware and software the phone is offering.

After abandoning a legacy of value originating from devices like the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 5, and seeing some very worthy competition like the OnePlus 3 and the ZTE Axon 7 in affordable price segments, customers familiar with the current market and past history might find the Pixel pricing a bit hard to digest. But on the other hand, the Pixel devices are more than just hardware — they are showcases of what Google is doing on the AI front, and an unrestrained interpretation of Android and mobile. Google is also promising better support this time around, and then there are aggressive marketing initiatives for the Pixel — the customer ultimately pays for all of this. So,

What do you feel is a reasonable asking price for the Pixel and the Pixel XL? Keeping in mind marketing efforts as well as R&D costs, which price segment would you pitch the Pixel and the Pixel XL in? How much price difference should exist between the Pixel and the Pixel XL, seeing that all that is different is the screen and battery?
