New Update to Tasker Adds Material Design, Support for Magisk Root, App Shortcuts and More

The developer behind Tasker was working on a new update that would bring a completely refreshed user interface. To make things even better, the UI wa said to be inspired by Material Design and we even got a sneak peek at the progress they had made so far. Thankfully, this update didn't take as long as some had feared, and there are a lot of other changes that went into it as well.

So, if you have Android 5.0 Lollipop or higher, then you should see the new Material Design user interface when you update. There's also 900 Material Design icons that come with this update, and even some colors that you can select as well.

Another big change in this new update is the added support for Android 7.1 Nougat's App Shortcuts feature. The last big change that stands out is the ability for Tasker to detect Magisk so that it can enable root support for Tasker.

These are just three highlighted features in a rather large changelog though. Devices running Android 4.4+ have new Set Alarm actions with parameters for both the ringtone as well as vibrate. There's a new Show Alarms action and a new Settings action called Print Settings. Android 5.0+ devices now have a new Take Screenshot action, 5.1+ devices have a new Settings action for listening to notifications, and there's a new Test File action for checking to see if a file exists.

There's also a number of bug fixes that have gone into this new Tasker update. Some people had an issue with the Airplane Mode action when rooted, and that should be fixed now. The Input / Back Button action was actually going to the home screen instead and that should now be fixed. There was a crash that happened from the scene editor if it referenced a task that was only on SD, which is now fixed. These are just the highlights, and you can find the full changelog down below:
