Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 Has Entered Mass Production

The Xiaomi Mi MIX was an interesting conceptual phone, nearly entirely bezel-less and packed with top specifications. It has a 6.4-inch screen with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio. That's a whole lot of screen. A Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 wasn't entirely out of question after its reception.

Now Xiaomi is back, this time with the Xiaomi Mi MIX 2. The device, being a flagship, is likely to see some flagship specs. Expect a good SoC and 4GB RAM, but everything else is up in the air at this point in time.

The CEO, Lei Jung, has been teasing on his Weibo account and posted two photos of the box of the device and has stated the device is now in mass production. The photos were shot on the Xiaomi Mi 6. There is also a promotional poster which Mr Jung sent out, hyping up the upcoming MIX 2.

The Vice President of Xiaomi also posted on Twitter about the device.

Xiaomi has the official Xiaomi Mi MIX 2 announcement date slated for September 11th, the day before Apple's  event (where they should be unveiling the iPhone 8) on the 12th. This may be on purpose in an attempt to get ahead of Apple and steal a bit of the spotlight, especially as Xiaomi in the past have been accused of stealing from Apple.

This news comes after the recent report of Xiaomi releasing the next Android One phone in collaboration with Google. This is relevant as Xiaomi allegedly was in talks with Google for 6 months to be able to release a device with a 17:9 aspect ratio, which the original Mi MIX had. This likely made it possible for other OEMs such as Samsung, LG and any other OEM with an odd display aspect ratio to release their device running Android. We'll be watching Xiaomi's release event on the 11th, and covering any other news as it comes!
