Samsung did a great job bouncing back from the battery debacle they went through with the Galaxy Note 7. The company's Galaxy Note 8 has been a huge hit within the Android community and the company was even able to bring performance up to where we expect a 2017 flagship smartphone to be. However, some Samsung fans who don't need a stylus are already looking forward to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and many were hoping it would be unveiled at CES 2018. However, a Samsung official has come out and revealed that it is unlikely the Galaxy S9 will make an appearance at CES next year.
Over the last couple of months we've been hearing a lot about the work Samsung has put into their next flagship smartphone. For the last couple of years the company has been working on a fingerprint sensor embedded under the display and each time it is speculated to be coming in the next phone. However a recent report states Samsung had to abort their plans for this fingerprint sensor implementation and rumors claim this was due to low yields.
A different report says Samsung is continuing to work on slimming down the bezels with the upcoming Galaxy S9 having a screen-to-body ratio of 89% to 90%. More talks about the upcoming LG and Samsung flagships say the companies plan on releasing them in January of 2018. There's also been some indication that Samsung will be sourcing their fingerprint sensors for the Galaxy S9 from Egistec. However, some news that got a lot of people excited claimed that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ would make a cameo appearance at the upcoming CES 2018 event.
Sadly, this doesn't seem to be the case though as Samsung themselves have dismissed the rumors and have said that "It is unlikely." It feels that every year rumors and reports claim Samsung and LG flagships will be unveiled and released earlier and earlier. Sometimes it does end up working out that way but this doesn't seem to be the case for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.
