Dell Mobile Connect Syncs Android and iOS Devices With Dell PCs

Applications that unify smartphones and desktops seem to be an emerging trend at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show. Razer unveiled Project Linda, a laptop dock for the Razer Phone. And Dell took the wraps off Dell Mobile Connect, an application that allows any device running Android 5.0/iOS 10 or newer to sync with a PC and place calls, send and receive texts, and get notifications.

The company says the Mobile Connect's point-to-point connection never goes through the internet or any wireless network, ensuring that the data remains private. What's more, compatible Android devices and all iOS devices can take advantage of a screencasting feature that allows them to beam apps to a target PC.

Dell Mobile Connect has no desktop counterpart right now, as it only supports Dell Inspiron, XPS, or Vostro PCs purchased from January 2018. It'll also be available for machines from Alienware, Dell's gaming-focused sub-brand, from January onwards. (Alienware Mobile Connect looks to have the exact same feature set, just with a different name and branding.)
