LG G7 and G7 Plus may launch in May with display notch and AI features

The LG G7 saga has been a roller coaster of ups and downs. First, a report claimed the device would launch in January. Obviously, that didn't happen. Then we heard the device would be announced in March and launched in April. That report was quickly followed up by a new one that claimed LG was starting development from scratch. We got our first look at the device last month, but it wasn't clear if this was the scrapped model. New reports have us getting back on the wild ride.

The leaked photos we saw last month may not be a canceled prototype after all. A Korean media publication is reporting the LG G7 will launch in May with the controversial display notch. However, they admit there is no official event scheduled yet. The Snapdragon 845 is still expected to be the processor along with "upgraded" RAM. That most likely means 6GB to help with LG's new AI features, which will, of course, be present.

A Plus model may also be launching alongside the LG G7. It's expected to have the same specs, but with a bigger display and more storage. Some of the other rumored specs for the G7 include dual 16MP cameras on the rear, Hi-Fi Quad DAC audio, 3000 mAh battery, 64GB of storage, and a 6-inch bezel-less OLED display. LG has struggled to sell devices despite their quality. Software support has been an issue as of late, which is something Android enthusiasts care deeply about. Making a great piece of hardware is not enough these days.
