The Xiaomi Mi Pad series of affordable tablets has always provided great value in terms of specifications and pricing. Availability of the Mi Pad series can be an issue as Xiaomi tends to sell them mostly in China, but they remain the go-to choice for buyers looking for an affordable Android tablet that does not have outdated specifications. The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 was launched in China in June as the latest iteration of the Mi Pad series with an 8-inch WUXGA (1920×1200) IPS display and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC. Last week, MySmartPrice stated that the company is working on the Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus, a new Android tablet. Now, the publication was able to access more information about the specifications of the device, including display size, storage configurations, and color options.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus will feature a bigger 10-inch display compared to the 8-inch display of the Mi Pad 4. The display's resolution isn't known yet. In terms of internals, MySmartPrice expects the Mi Pad 4 Plus to be powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SoC as the standard Mi Pad 4. The Snapdragon 660 has recently been succeeded by the Snapdragon 670 and the Snapdragon 710, but it still remains a capable mid-range SoC with strong CPU performance thanks to having four big Arm Cortex-A73 cores.
With respect to connectivity, the Mi Pad 4 Plus is expected to support dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, 4G LTE, and a USB Type-C port. It is also likely to have a bigger battery than the Mi Pad 4 in order to power the larger display. (For reference, the Mi Pad 4 is powered by a 6,000mAh battery.)
In terms of software, the Mi Pad 4 Plus is expected to run Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 10 out of the box at launch. It will have two storage configurations: 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage, and 4GB of RAM with 128GB of storage. It's also not expected to feature a microSD card slot like the Mi Pad 4.
The Xiaomi Mi Pad 4 Plus will be available in Black and Gold colors. As of now, the tablet's launch time frame is unknown, but it's probable to expect more news regarding this in the coming weeks.
