Rumored Photo and Specifications of the Moto G5 Plus have been Unveiled

While the second half of the year is full of leaks about Nexus (and now hopefully Pixel) devices, Samsung Note series, and the LG V series of smartphones, the first half is dominated with rumors about Samsung's S series, LG's G series, an HTC flagship, and upcoming Motorola devices as well. We're heard a ton of information about offerings from Samsung and LG (the Galaxy S6 and LG G6 respectively), but we haven't heard much about any Motorola devices. This week though, two independent leaks were revealed that give us a better look of what to expect from the Motorola G5 Plus.

The first leak was an image that was published in a Google+ community. The image comes to us from the user Dan Cautella who posted it to the Moto G4 and Moto G4 Plus Brazil community. The photo, as you can see at the top of this article, shows the device with a printed screen protector on the top. The user claims that this device is the Motorola G5 Plus, and if the device is legitimate then it will seemingly have a 12MP rear-facing camera, a 3,000mAh capacity battery, and a 5.2″ display. We can also see that it will have a fingerprint reader at the bottom, it will have NFC support, and that it has an unnamed octa-core SoC running at a maximum frequency of 2.0GHz.

5.2″ seems small for the Moto G5 Plus, so I wonder how small the regular Moto G5 will be? In any case, previous leaks suggested that it could have a 5.2″ display so this matches up. Speaking of previous leaks, the leaker who suggested that the G5 Plus would have a 5.2″ display, Roland Quandt, revealed some more information about the device's camera. His sources are telling him that the rear camera will use Sony's IMX362 sensor which features a 12MP sensor (just like the new photo shows) that can shoot 4K video at 30FPS and will have a F1.7 aperture lens and support for PDAF.

If this is true, the rear camera of the device will actually be the same one used in the Vivo X6 Plus and ASUS ZenFone 3 Zoom. Mr. Quandt's sources are also telling him the front camera of the Moto G5 Plus will use OmniVision's OV5695 5MP sensor with a F2.2 aperture.
