LG to Launch the LG V30+ in India on December 13

The LG V30, LG's flagship smartphone for the second half of 2017, was announced on August 31 at IFA 2017. It launched in select markets in October, but it's taken time for the flagship to roll out internationally. That's especially true of India, where LG remained mum on the matter of V30's launch three months after its announcement. But that all changed this week — LG recently sent invites to India-based press for an event on December 13 in New Delhi, where it's expected to announce an enhanced version of the LG V30 — the V30+ — for the Indian market.

The LG V30's high-end list of specifications includes Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip; 4GB of RAM paired with 64GB of storage (and support for expandable storage); and a 6-inch 18:9 display with a WQHD+ (2880×1440) resolution, 538 pixels-per-inch density, and LG's P-OLED display tech. In a departure for LG's V series, the V30 lacks a secondary display, instead shipping a software-based Floating Bar feature that approximates it.

The V30 has dual rear cameras: A 16MP 1.0-micron pixel sensor with a 71-degree lens, and a 13MP wide-angle 120-degree camera. It packs a Hi-Fi Quad digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and a 3,300mAh battery, and runs a version of Android 7.1 Nougat with LG's custom UX skin. (LG's rolling out an Oreo beta for V30 owners in South Korea ahead of a global rollout later this year.)

The LG V30+ was announced for the U.S. September, where it's exclusive to T-Mobile and Sprint subscribers. It has double the storage of the LG V30 (128GB vs. 64GB) and comes with LG's QuadPlay earbuds, but that's all that's different — in most respects, it's basically the same as the V30.

In India, the LG's likely to position the V30+ against premium flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S8+, Galaxy Note 8 and the Google Pixel 2 XL. Right now, there's still no information about the pricing and availability of the device, but we're expecting to learn more at the press event.
