Similarly to most other major OEMs, Sony likes to create multiple variants of designed phones for those who like the "original" model, but just want a little bit more in certain areas. These usually include flagship smartphones and affordable smartphones, so let's remember that Sony has stopped developing devices that they called "Premium" Standard Models. These affordable phones seem to be mid-range devices since the Sony Xperia XA2 and Xperia XA2 Ultra have both mid-range hardware and a price tag of $300 right now. Many companies don't like to put resources into updating low-end and mid-range phones, but Sony hs just began updating these phones with Android's security patch level for July.
The Xperia XA2 was released earlier this year in February and it seems to have done well for the company. Their naming scheme is getting more and more confusing every year, but they continue to sell phones under their reputable brand even if they look a generation or two old. This version shipped with a 5.2-inch display, the Snapdragon 630 SoC, 3GB of RAM and Android 8.0 Oreo. Respect for Sony here because it took many months into 2018 until any newly released devices came shipped Oreo.

The company also released the Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra which looked very similar to its little brother. The ultra version for a display bump up to 6-inches, RAM was solid at 4GB and they gave users the option to buy one with 64GB of internal storage (which is something they didn't do for the regular Xperia XA2). There are many fans of Sony's OEM ROM out there and the way it is set up allows them to push out new OTA updates at a respectable speed. They are even participants in the Android P beta program. Quick updates also leave the customers feeling safe and secure when they regularly get security updates
The build numbers of these updates will come from 50.1.A.10.40 to version 50.1.A.10.51, but sadly it seems the initial feedback says this security update did not fix the Bluetooth issue that was present in the previous update.
