I don't know why it does that but it's extremely annoying and wasted a lot of battery. It works only when screen is on. It doesn't download or upload anything big, it's just constantly waking modem. The problem doesn't exist when there's mobile data connection. I love this phone but os is big garbage i tried both Lollipop and Marshmallow and had a lot of issues. Anyone had this problem?
