Which is better.... Fire Stick or the AFTV2?
I've created this thread because alot of new Amazon forum members sometimes ask which device should they buy? Here is my option about the Firestick & the AFTV 2
What can they do?
The fire Tv 2 can add mirco sd card or usb stick for more storage, you can add a usb keyboard, usb controllers, play more compatible games on it, also play old arcade & games console games via emulator apps on it, rooting from the aftv2 is already been done & is not too hard to do (if you follow the steps properly), you can have a custom recovery (Twrp) & a prerooted stock rom (custom firmware), you can install the playstore & also install Xposed firmware/load modules (if wanted), block Amazon mandatory updates, & use ad blocker apps.
The stick at the moment can only be rooted with the Kingroot app & can use ad blocker apps after that is done, development is on the way for custom recovery/prerooted rom & you can use usb keyboard access at the moment using a version of a OTG (OnTheGo cable) but some adb commands are needed to make it work.
PLEASE NOTE
If you use the Kingroot app do not try to use SuperSUme or SuperSUme Pro to swap/replace Kingroot because after the 1st reboot of the system after root was successful the Firesticks & AFTV's on Gen 1 & 2 have been reported as being bricked by many forum members & so far none have been reported to have been unbricked from that. (You have been warned)
In my opinion the Amazon Fire Tv 2 is better.... but we also have two Fire Tv Sticks which we use in our house so it's not like the Firestick isn't up to scratch.
Hope this information helps & if so press that thanks button
